You're about to discover just how amazing it can be to give the gift of sight. At Sight Savers, we work in the world's poorest countries, restoring sight and giving hope to many adults and children who are needlessly blind.
Globally, every five seconds a person goes blind- 45 million people in the world today are blind
- Nine out of ten blind people live in the developing world
- 75% of global blindness can be prevented or cured
The statistics on blindness are staggering. But people do not go blind by the million, they go blind one by one, and for each person the impact is enormous. Poverty and blindness are a formidable combination, depriving many people in the developing world of basic human rights. Loss of sight often results in social exclusion, making blind people vulnerable to abuse, poverty and early death. Less than half of all children who lose their sight will survive to adulthood. The figures appear overwhelming, yet providing registered charities help is simple.

We have decided to support Global Angels, one of the wonderful child charities whose mission is to make the world a safer and kinder place for all children. 1,000 million children in the world today live in extreme poverty. 400 million children have no access to safe drinking water.
Global Angels was launched in June 2005, by Molly Bedingfield, mother of Natasha and Daniel Bedingfield. The aim of the charity is to unite millions
of people in charity work from all walks of life and spheres of influence by inviting them to become ‘Angels’ and possibly become involved in charity fund raising . By putting your compassion into action, Angels change
